Diversity...right here in Corbin!
By: Chris Jones
Diversity is certainly a buzz word in our culture today. However, it is sometimes rarely seen in small town America.
As I was standing on the track last Tuesday night (in the rain, nonetheless…remember the crazy thing from last month) at the regular Tuesday track workout of the Falls Road Runners, I began to look around at our motley crew that had assembled. I was amazed at all the different walks of life represented. From teenager to middle age, from short to tall, from thin to not so thin, from student to CEO, from fast to not so fast, from all parts of our country to foreign countries represented – we had all come together for the purpose of improving our health through running. When we lace up our shoes and step on the track (or road), we check all of the titles society has given us at the door and we all put on the unified title of “runner”.
This is the great thing about our sport and our club. No matter who you are, what phase of life you’re currently in – we have a place for you. Whether you have been a couch potato all of your life and are now looking to get active or if you’re looking to improve upon your last marathon (and everywhere in between), we have a place for you.
The Falls Road Runners… a place for every pace…including yours!
