Why Group Exercise?
By: Angie Morales
You know that you need to get in shape. You know that you would feel better if you exercise. But maybe you just don’t know how to get started. If this describes you, then group exercise could be your answer.
Exercise in general can improve your mood, help fight off diseases, control your weight, help you sleep better, reduce bone loss and yes give you more energy. So what is holding you back from making the commitment?
Group Exercise is where my passion lies. As an instructor, you will find me in class most days of the week. The classes are fun and effective. The great thing is that you don’t need to know too much about exercise to do it if you attend a class.
Personal training is great as well, but can be expensive. Most gyms include their group exercise classes in the membership fees. So it’s like getting a personal trainer for free, but in a group setting. You are still being led through the exercises, but with great music to motivate you. The crowd is around you, motivating you also. Everyone feeds off of each others energy. The bigger the crowd, the more energy in the room. It’s exciting! It can help you burn those ugly pounds that you carry and it strengthens the muscles. Don’t forget the heart is a muscle too. So what are you waiting for? Call your local gym today and find out the classes that they offer. You can usually find anything from dance to weight training. Just remember to see your doctor before beginning any exercise program especially if you have any medical conditions.
Physical activity is not done by accident; it must be on purpose. If you plan ahead, then you will succeed. The class that you choose will have a specific start and end time, so pencil it into your calendar. Exercise done on purpose should last anywhere from twenty to ninety minutes and be done at least three times per week.
So don’t wait another minute. Get you calendar, pencil in your workout time and get started on a new, healthy you.
